PATIENTS
AND PATIENCE
Doctors at Indian Institute
of Opthalmology are exceptionally thorough and professional
.Patients with Vitreo-retinal disorder require tests and investigation
with specialised equipment after pupilliary dilation. These cannot be
done in routine eye examinations. These take time. Rather than calling
the patient a second time , in most cases the diagnosis is made the
same day. Most patients appreciate this practice. Therefore, please
come prepared to spend the day at the clinic. Diabetic patients should
bring along their medicines and some snacks. Similarly, each patient
being different in way of complexity of his/her problem, it is not possible
to strictly stick to the schedules. Every patient gets the time and
attention they need.

Most cases require maximum dilatation of pupil for thorough examination of
Retina and Vitreous. Glare during the day may be helped by dark glasses. However , night
driving and reading can be difficult for several hours or even a couple of days . Kindly
inform the doctor if you had any adverse or allergic reaction during dilatation of pupils
in the past.

Most patient with vitreo-retinal problems, need one attendant. Because
of paucity of space and long hours of waiting , it is advisable to bring
only one adult attendant who can wait upstairs while the patient is
being taken care of at the ground floor waiting room. They can watch
cable TV or live surgery on closed circuit T.V when the surgical
session is going on.
